About the event
In this talk Dr Zipporah Weisberg will argue that human exceptionalism and human supremacism play a relatively minor role in many forms of humanism and that humanism might have something of value to offer to a multispecies liberation project.
Speaker Bio: Dr Zipporah Weisberg is a sessional instructor in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa and Guest Researcher at the Messerli Research Institute in Vienna. Her areas of specialization include critical animal studies, existentialism and phenomenology. She has published on a wide range of topics, including climate justice and animal justice, the ethics and politics of cultured meat, the benefits and harms of animal assisted therapy, the ethical and ontological implications of biotechnology, and the psychopathology of speciesism.
