This semester we are proud to announce the launch of the Vienna Animal Studies' Visiting Lecture Series. Unlike the Winter and Summer Lecture Series that aim to highlight the work of scholars based in Vienna and foster networking and collaboration, the Visiting Lecture Series provides opportunities to scholars who are visiting the city to showcase their work.
We start off this initiative on the 19th of November with a fascinating talk by Dr Barbara Holthus on the multifaceted roles of pets in Japan.

It will be followed with a talk given on the 1st of December by Leon Borgdorf focused on mercy and how it sits within debates of ethics and modern technologies of 'livestock' production.

You can find out more about these events and register to attend on our website. Click on events to see a range of events organized by VAS as well as external events that might be of interest to animal studies scholars.
If you are coming to Vienna and think your work might be of interest to the animal studies community here then make sure to get in touch! You can also stay on top of the latest events and news by subscribing to our newsletter.
